The BLAKE Summer Prom, twice postponed due to Covid was held on the 11th June. The purpose, to enjoy an evening of beautiful music while raising money for mental health support and suicide prevention in Norfolk. It did not disappoint.
On a lovely summers evening in Bracon Ash, near Norwich, the air was filled with a mix of music from the award-winning trio, Blake – ably supported by a choir from Greshams. For many, it was the first time attending an event post lockdown which itself was uplifting; and a reminder of the mental challenges of Covid.
1 in 4 people in the UK will experience poor mental health. One of the charities benefiting from the event is YANA (you are not alone). YANA provides help for those involved in farming and other rural businesses affected by stress and depression. Whilst Farming or working in the countryside is usually a good way of life, it is a demanding and stressful occupation. The Rose Berney Memorial Fund, which provides support for mental health and suicide prevention via the Norfolk Community Foundation is personal for BLAKE member Humphrey Berney. “In 2005 my sister Rose took her own life after a long and difficult battle with her mental health. Her journey and death highlighted the inadequate support in Norfolk for those with mental health issues and since her death, I am very sad to say things have not improved.” Loveday & Partners was delighted to be able to help support this important cause.
